Aircraft was totally destroyed by fire in February 1939. The fire started about midnight in the main hangar of Ansett Airways LTD. At that time a night-watchman was not employed. The aircraft was completely gutted before fire-fighting equipment was brought into operation. The fire was due to a faulty lead-light short-circuiting.

Ace Flier Lands Dying Plane on Sydney Beach
Famous Australian flier Captain James Broadbent put a mail plane with eight passengers down in a perfect forced landing on Narrabeen Beach this morning.
No-one was injured and the plane was undamaged although at the end of it's run on the uneven beach, it finished in the surf.
The starboard engine of the Ansett Airways plane had cut-out and the port engine was failing when Broadbent put the plane down on a narrow strip of wet sand.
