Capt. Joe Bridgett
(Extract from Syd's Last Pilot)
The Cathay Pacific of 1967 had its downers as well as uppers. Several popular flight crew members retired, a Thai Caravelle landed short and hit the sea, and a Cathay Pacific Convair ran off the runway during take-off.
On Tuesday 14 March Captain Joe Bridgett, F/E Ray Racella and Captain John Carrington left the Company. Joe had a serious shoulder injury that finally led to the loss of his flying licence, whereas Ray and John had reached the mandatory retirement age of 55 years.
