Captain Dale Cramer
A Beaming Dale!
(Extract from Syd's Last Pirate)
Captain Dale Cramer
A U.S. Navy pilot who soloed in February 1943 and was posted that April to the naval station at Corpus Christi in Texas. After logging 1000 hours he was posted to Patrol Squadron 45. He finished the war and his Naval career with 1789 hours logged, leaving the service early in 1947. His record and ability earned him a captaincy with INACO, a Philippine company which operated Catalina amphibians. In June he was hired by Trans-Asiatic Air Service operating from Bangkok and checked out on DC3s. In August Cathay Pacific snapped him up when he applied for a job with them.
Captain Cramer piloted the ill-fated Catalina, Miss Macao, on it's final journey in July 1948 when, as 'Chic' Eather says, it was 'skyjacked'.
